Candida grew up in a family who were immersed in the Arts particularly the Theatre and Theatre Design and remembers spending most of her childhood surrounded by the smell of greasepaint and turpentine or battling with yards and yards (as it was then !) of fabrics in the Wardrobe Department and she fully intended to follow in her parents’ footsteps.

Strange though how Fate can steer us in a completely different direction and a chance meeting with a Lord of Appeal persuaded her that a glittering legal career awaited and she went on to become a highly successful Commercial Real Estate Lawyer and a Partner in a prominent City firm, acting for such well-known (and diverse) names as the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy Group and the Wilko Group, whilst attaining her Masters Degree.

However, her spare time was devoted to a creative path as a much-needed change from 120-page leases and weighty bundles of title deeds and she continued to develop her original passion for Design, master-minding the renovation and refurbishment of many homes – not just for herself and Graham but for family, friends and an ever increasing circle of clients who became much more interested in her design skills than in her legal ones!

A major health scare triggered a reassessment and an important career decision and Candida withdrew from the Law and attained her BA qualification in Interior Design and formally established her Interior Design practice. A move for the family to France followed and she and Graham spent 10 blissful years in the Cote d’Or region in the heart of the Burgundy wine-making area where they ran a fabulous chambre d’hotes and their French interior design company.

The changes wrought by the Brexit vote triggered a decision to return home to the Cotswolds where the family have settled back as if they had never been away.

Graham had hoped for a sporting career having played tennis and squash to a very high standard but was persuaded an academic route was safer - just what he was trying to avoid! Fortunately his need for change and challenge was satisfied by a successful telecommunications project management career in the corporate giant GEC that took Graham working all over the world as Projects Director for the now Ericsson.

In his leisure time Graham revelled in his other passions for food, cooking and entertaining but didn’t realise at the time they would be put to good use commercially!

A reassessment of family personal values and ambitions after a health scare meant that Graham’s skills and talents were now going to be used for our own benefit but this time in one of France’s centres of gastronomy – Burgundy.

Not one for the easy life Graham looked after ‘Les Chardonnereux’ chambre d’hôte and conducted Wine Tours for guests and offered an ‘at home’ private dining service. Whilst in the off-season Graham’s Burgundy Property; Project Management services looked after the properties of second home owners in the area.

In the meantime Candida established a thriving interior design business in the centre of historic Beaune. After 10 years of hard work, fun and countless escapades our return to the UK and the Cotswolds was precipitated by Brexit but the adventure continues in the capital of the Cotswolds, Cirencester.
